Britanski premijer Rishi Sunak obećao je u ponedjeljak da će početi slati tražitelje azila u Ruandu u roku od 10 do 12 tjedana, budući da je Gornji dom Parlamenta konačno usvojio potrebne zakone, koji su tjednima odlagani pokušajima da se plan promijeni.

Sunak je rekao da je vlada rezervirala komercijalne čarter letove i obučila osoblje da odveze migrante u Ruandu, što je politika za koju se nada da će povećati popularnost njegove Konzervativne stranke prije izbora kasnije ove godine.

Dom lordova je dugo odbijao podržati zakon o podjelama bez dodatnih mjera zaštite, ali je na kraju popustio nakon što je Sunak rekao da će vlada natjerati parlament da zasjeda koliko je potrebno da bi se zakon usvojio.

Deseci tisuća migranata - mnogi koji bježe od ratova i siromaštva u Africi, na Bliskom istoku i u Aziji - stigli su u Veliku Britaniju posljednjih godina prešavši La Manche u malim čamcima na rizičnim putovanjima koje organiziraju bande za krijumčarenje ljudi.

Zaustavljanje dotoka migranata prioritet je za vladu, ali kritičari kažu kako je plan da se ljudi deportiraju u Ruandu umjesto da se tražitelji azila rješavaju u Britaniji nehuman. Oni navode zabrinutost zbog stanja ljudskih prava u istočnoafričkoj zemlji i rizika da bi tražitelji azila mogli biti vraćeni u zemlje u kojima su suočeni s opasnošću.

Prijetnje osporavanjem zakona

Sunakov novi zakon propisuje da se neka postojeća britanska pravila o ljudskim pravima neće primjenjivati i da britanski suci moraju tretirati Ruandu kao sigurnu destinaciju, što je pokušaj da se poništi odluka Vrhovnog suda koja je plan proglasila nezakonitim.

Također ograničava mogućnosti pojedinaca na žalbu samo na iznimne slučajeve. Govoreći prije usvajanja zakona, Sunak je rekao da su zračne luke spremne, mjesta za letove rezervirana i da je 500 pripadnika pograničnih službi spremno ispratiti migrante "sve do Ruande".

Prema politici formuliranoj prije dvije godine i dogovorenoj s Ruandom, svaki tražitelj azila koji ilegalno stigne u Veliku Britaniju bit će poslan u Ruandu prema shemi za koju vlada kaže da će spriječiti prelazak kanala i razbiti sadašnji model krijumčarenja ljudi. I nakon uspješnog svladavanja parlamentarnih prepreka Sunak bi se još mogao suočiti s pravnim osporavanjima zakona.

Dobrotvorne organizacije i skupine za ljudska prava najavile su da će pokušati zaustaviti pojedinačne deportacije, a sindikat koji zastupa osoblje pograničnih službi obećava da će osporiti novi zakon kao nezakonit "u roku od nekoliko dana" nakon što prvi tražitelji azila budu obaviješteni da će biti poslani u Ruandu.

"Hitno trebamo da vlada Ujedinjenog Kraljevstva počne pristojno tretirati izbjeglice i prestane ih pokušavati slati u nesigurnu budućnost u Ruandi", izjavila je Lucy Gregg, vršiteljica dužnosti voditeljice Advocacy at Freedom from Torture za Reuters.

Druge europske zemlje, uključujući Austriju i Njemačku, također razmatraju sporazume o procesuiranju tražitelja azila u inozemstvu, piše Radio Slobodna Evropa.

Britanski premijer Rishi Sunak obećao je u ponedjeljak da će početi slati tražitelje azila u Ruandu u roku od 10 do 12 tjedana, budući da je Gornji dom Parlamenta konačno usvojio potrebne zakone, koji su tjednima odlagani pokušajima da se plan promijeni.

Sunak je rekao da je vlada rezervirala komercijalne čarter letove i obučila osoblje da odveze migrante u Ruandu, što je politika za koju se nada da će povećati popularnost njegove Konzervativne stranke prije izbora kasnije ove godine.

Deseci tisuća migranata - mnogi koji bježe od ratova i siromaštva u Africi, na Bliskom istoku i u Aziji - stigli su u Veliku Britaniju posljednjih godina prešavši La Manche u malim čamcima na rizičnim putovanjima koje organiziraju bande za krijumčarenje ljudi.

Zaustavljanje dotoka migranata prioritet je za vladu, ali kritičari kažu kako je plan da se ljudi deportiraju u Ruandu umjesto da se tražitelji azila rješavaju u Britaniji nehuman. Oni navode zabrinutost zbog stanja ljudskih prava u istočnoafričkoj zemlji i rizika da bi tražitelji azila mogli biti vraćeni u zemlje u kojima su suočeni s opasnošću.

Prijetnje osporavanjem zakona

Sunakov novi zakon propisuje da se neka postojeća britanska pravila o ljudskim pravima neće primjenjivati i da britanski suci moraju tretirati Ruandu kao sigurnu destinaciju, što je pokušaj da se poništi odluka Vrhovnog suda koja je plan proglasila nezakonitim.

Prema politici formuliranoj prije dvije godine i dogovorenoj s Ruandom, svaki tražitelj azila koji ilegalno stigne u Veliku Britaniju bit će poslan u Ruandu prema shemi za koju vlada kaže da će spriječiti prelazak kanala i razbiti sadašnji model krijumčarenja ljudi.
